win in the Department of Sports East Zone 2 Athletic Championship, at the St. Paul’s
Recreational Ground on February, to conclude the zonal athletic series.
The champion school finished with fifteen (15) gold, seven (7) silver and sixteen (16) bronze
medals, as St. Paul’s made its intention known for the Rams’ Primary School Championship,
scheduled for later in March.
The Saddler’s Primary School claimed the second position with eleven (11) gold, eight (8) silver
and ten (10) bronze medals.
Defending Rams’ Primary School Champions Dieppe Bay Primary secured ten (10) gold,
eighteen (18) silver and eight (8) bronze medals to finish third.
The fourth school in the zone was the Edgar T Morris Primary School. Its athletes finished with
two (2) golds, four (4) silver and four (4) bronze medals.
The Department of Sports reintroduced the zonal championships in the public primary schools
this year, thirteen years after they were discontinued. Four zones were featured- Basseterre, East
Zone 1, East Zone 2 and West one.
The main objectives of the revival are to generate even more community support for athletes as
well as to raise money, from gate receipts, for schools to purchase sport accessories.
